HAMILTON, Ill. (WGEM) -- Having won just five games over the last two seasons, West Hancock's football program has seen the bottom.
The Titans hope this season brings them back to the top.
The good thing is Darrin Bozzola's team is relatively young, but talented. The bad thing is their lack of recent success could mean continued growing pains.
Throw in a difficult schedule, and West Hancock could be faced with an uphill battle this fall.
The Titans' coaches and players are confident they'll be competitive week in and week out.
"This particular group has come in more as a group as a whole and has been more energetic throughout the summer and taken it seriously," said second-year head coach Darrin Bozzola.
"They're hungry, they're wanting to come off more of a better season than 2-7.
According to junior quarterback Collin Dooley, "We didn't have too good of a season and I think that a lot of kids on our team want to improve.
But we want to upset a lot of the other teams that think that we're not too great."
West Hancock opens the season at Macomb on Friday before visiting Central/Southeastern in Week 2.
Starting in Week 3, the Titans play four out its next six games at home
